All forms of lifting equipment is regulated under either the Lift Regulations or Machinery Regulations dependent upon its application.

Lifts designed for the movement of people (with the exception of platform lifts / lifting platforms designed specifically for the purpose of moving individuals with impaired mobility) have to comply with the Lift Regulations.

Lifts designed for the movement of goods along with platform lifts / lifting platforms designed specifically for the purpose of moving individuals with impaired mobility have to comply with the Machinery Regulations.
